A network of water irrigation channels called Levadas are unique to Madeira and provide a natural source for watering, which covers the entire island. With over 2000 kms of levadas and 30 kms of tunnels makes this island an attractive place for ramblers who can walk alongside them on pathways whilst enjoying some of the most dramatic and beautiful sceneries in the world. Most of the Levadas have been graded for walks and some can be precipitous so a specialist guide is advised.

If you want I can take you to some secret places, just contact me.
